| Wren recovers and informs Ahsoka of her findings, and also traces the droids that attacked her to Elsbeth’s factories on Corellia. Syndulla chases after the transport carrying the hyperdrive while Ahsoka duels Marrok, a former Inquisitor working for Elsbeth. Episode Analysis: Unraveling “Toiled in Trouble”
Hey there, I’m MJ. An author, artist, and analyzer. Welcome to my immersive Star Wars analysis podcast. Today, I’m on the brink of wrapping up episode two, or as they call it, part two, of “Ahsoka,” aptly named “Toiled in Trouble.” Yeah, the title might raise an eyebrow, but it seems to play on Morgan Ellsworth’s Dathomir witch persona. I’ll delve into that oddity in a bit. Now, let’s break it down.
Puzzling Threads of the Plot
I must admit, I’m still grappling with fully understanding everything that’s going on. The fact that Ellsworth doesn’t resemble a Nightsister at all continues to baffle me. Although, she’s donning the same attire as Mother Talzin, if I recall correctly. The continuity can be a bit fuzzy sometimes.
Sabine’s Unfolding Journey
Sabine’s journey is quite intriguing. While I can see the purpose of having her undergo some regression for growth, I can’t help but ponder an alternate scenario. Considering her limited Force aptitude and skill, why not have her be bitter with Ahsoka for abandoning her and not being a jerk to people on Lothal? This might lead to her defeat against Shin and consequently inspire her to recommit to training, eventually becoming Ahsoka’s padawan.
A Mystifying Force Sensitivity
Sabine’s newfound Force sensitivity remains an enigma. It’s perplexing how she suddenly exhibits this capability, even though her aptitude is minimal. Huyang’s mention of a lightsaber like Balen’s 500 years ago sparks curiosity. His longevity in the Star Wars universe is notable, and it’s intriguing to ponder how many Padawans he’s observed. Yet, as Luke highlighted in “The Mandalorian,” talent alone isn’t the sole measure of success. Sabine’s combination of Mandalorian and Jedi skills is interesting to explore.
Deconstructing Choices: Ahsoka and Sabine
As the narrative unfolds, I find myself questioning the necessity of Sabine becoming Ahsoka’s Padawan. It seems a bit far-fetched and unnecessary, given her Mandalorian background. Her Force sensitivity also raises eyebrows considering her Mandalorian lineage. While her versatile talents are impressive, adding the Force to the mix might just be overcomplicating her character.
Reunion of Rebels
Now, back to the episode. It was a joy to witness the reunion of the Rebels crew. Hera, Chopper, Ahsoka, and Sabine working together brought a nostalgic charm. Sabine’s mechanical prowess coupled with her artistic and combat skills add to her appeal. However, introducing the HK droids felt a bit excessive. Sabine’s existing abilities were already well-rounded, and this extra layer might be unnecessary.
Galactic Complexities: Corellia and Beyond
Despite these reservations, the episode had its high points. Exploring Corellia alongside Ahsoka and Hera was a treat, shedding light on political complexities. The clash between New Republic values and practicality was well depicted, potentially hinting at the origins of the First Order.
Traversing Galaxies: The Eye of Sion
The concept of traversing to another galaxy adds an exciting dimension to the storyline. While such a journey could be daunting, it’s possible that the Eye of Sion vessel has been enhanced with multiple hyperdrives, allowing for faster travel.
Final Thoughts: A Balanced View
In conclusion, “Toiled in Trouble” offers a more cohesive narrative compared to the series opener. The return of familiar characters engaged in Star Wars-style actions is satisfying. While certain choices leave me puzzled, I’m eager to see how the series unfolds. The potential to explore new galaxies and see these characters develop further excites me.
