Finding Strength in Tough Times: A Personal Journey by MJ Muñoz

Introduction

Welcome to another episode of “Story Over Everything,” where we explore the ups and downs of life’s creative journey. I’m MJ Muñoz, an author, an artist, and an analyzer. You can find all my work at MJMunoz.com.

In this episode, I want to share a very personal experience, a week that has been particularly rough for me in terms of my writing and drawing. Looking back, it feels like I haven’t accomplished anything from September 2nd to September 8th, and I have tangible reasons for it. While these reasons are valid, it doesn’t mean I like them. Some things in life are simply unavoidable.

The Myth of Perfection

We often hear phrases like “believe hard enough, and it will happen” or “love never fades, friendships never end.” While I hope these statements are true, life has reminded me that they don’t always hold up. The truth is, sometimes you get defeated, and that’s okay. You can’t win them all, and I’ve learned to embrace this reality.

The Righteous Man Falls Seven Times

There’s a saying, “The righteous man falls down seven times, but he keeps getting up.” It’s not that he falls seven times, but rather, his righteousness is measured by his determination to keep getting up. In my case, I’m not on a moral mission like robbing banks; I’m following my heart’s desire by writing and drawing to make my soul content.

The Struggle of Balancing Priorities

Lately, my life has been consumed by extra work, which has taken me away from my creative endeavors. I come home, spend time with my children, and find myself too exhausted to write or draw. Even when I do get a moment, it’s often hijacked by more work. But I’m grateful for the opportunities that have come my way, thanks to my supportive wife.

Sleepless Nights and Challenges

My days are long, and my nights are short due to sick kids in the house. It’s challenging, and I’m constantly tired. There are moments when I tell myself I should write or draw, but exhaustion takes over. It’s been a struggle, but I remind myself that I have many blessings in my life, even during these tough times.

Perseverance and Moving Forward

I’ve learned that during these troughs in life, it’s essential to keep moving forward, even if it means crawling. I find inspiration in a song by one of my favorite bands, a song that reminds me that I can overcome these challenges. It’s called CRAWL and part of it goes like this “Hand over hand, I’ll crawl till I believe that I can stand” it’s by BNL, and you can listen to it here.

Conclusion

As I wrap up this episode, I want to thank you for joining me on this journey. While it’s been a challenging week, I’m determined to keep going. I’ll leave you with this: Be strong, keep pursuing your dreams, and remember that you are the only one who can stop yourself from achieving what you want. Work with yourself, forgive yourself, and keep going. Until next time, this is MJ Munoz, signing out. Enjoy the inspiring tune that follows, and stay strong, my friends.
