“We have defeated ISIS in Syria”

Due to time constraints and the typically high level of exhaustion I am working at, I can either stop writing or write when and what I can. Because I am so set on writing, I have decided to due just that and set aside time for myself to write what I can within a set time. These 260 words were wrought in the space of 10 minutes.

If you haven’t heard, I have some great news for you. President Donald J. Trump has declared war against ISIS in Syria and is calling for a rapid withdrawal of US troops there.

Recently I have written about how terrible I feel about living in this militaristic empire. I have never felt much affinity for Trump, but some of his campaign promises and platforms did attract me. He rejected the continued presence of US troops in Afghanistan and spoke out against the handling of the war against ISIS. Unfortunately he seemingly caved to pressure form his military advisers and increased our involvement in Afghanistan. He even went so far as to recently concede that we have to stay over there and fight them or we will end up fighting them over here, that is he bought into the safe harbor fallacy. I feared he would not live up to his promises. I count on that from most politicians, but he seemed like he might just go against the grain and be a President who refused to escalate and elevate the bellicose mode we have been in for decades.

But B”H, just a few hours ago, he said we are done with fighting in Syria. This is so good. The Senate passed the bill to stop aiding Saudi Arabia in their war on Yemen, which is resulting in the deaths of so many innocents.

My family and I will continue to pray and call our representatives demanding the end to our support of and commission of senseless bloodshed around the world.
