Another take on an Ultra. This is probably my third version of an off-brand Ultra.
What’s more classic than an Ultra when it comes to tokusatsu? I suppose Godzilla is, but I have never been too into kaiju. I actually resisted watching Ultraman for so long because I am not into kaiju. That’s a bit funny given than Power Rangers has a new kaiju every week and the rangers have to go giant to fight it. For some reason it felt different to me. Anyway, I have gained enough sophistication to enjoy Ultraman. Now you can enjoy my take. He has no color timer on his chest. Maybe it’s on his forehead? His ray comes from the forehead in a triangle unlike the Specium Ray. It’s a cheap knock-off, but I had fun making it.
Keep coming back as I tackle the rest of the prompts throughout September. I am determined to make it every day this year!
Looking over all these prompts has my wheels spinning and I really want to make a little toku-inspired project for kids. I am thinking something about health. Maybe three little adventures in a single book with a team composed of an homage to Sentai, Rider and Ultra. I don’t really draw cute, so I would love to chat with a more versatile illustrator who would be interested in working together.
