CLARIFICATION

I took some time to look into it (actually it is in the manga on the “cover page” before each section) and the first two runs of Gorenger collected in the Seven Seas omnibus are from two separate magazines and overlap each other. Swinging Through Comics 77 and 78 cover the entire run from Weekly Shonen Sunday (1974-1975). STC 79 will start my coverage of the Shogaku Gonensei Gorenger (Gorenger SG 1-4) which ran monthly from April 1975 – July 1975. The tokusatsu Himtsu Sentai Gorenger ran from April 1975 to March 1977.

SYNOPSIS

An evil secret society called the Black Cross Army threatens world peace, and only an elite task force known as the Earth Guard League (EAGLE) can stop them. After the Black Cross Army destroys EAGLE’s headquarters across Japan, five young recruits survive. Hiding in a secret underground base, they are given enhanced battlesuits that empower them with superhuman abilities, transforming the youths into an unstoppable squad to combat evil.
