SYNOPSIS
Tsubasa helps Sononi, who is entwined by a man. Sononi, who is interested about the feeling of human love asks Tsubasa about it, who has an important woman in his life named Natsumi. Tsubasa, who is chasing the image of his beloved meets Tsuyoshi by coincidence, the two unaware of each other’s identites as Donbrothers and the striking resemblance between Tsuyoshi’s wife and Tsubasa’s beloved.
Tsuyoshi, who loves his wife Miho sympathizes with Tsubasa’s feelings for Natsumi, and invites him over to his house and eat Miho’s home cooking. Meanwhile, Taro encounters Sonoi, but they fail to come to terms and fight each other.
NEGATIVE
-The translation of the title threw me off
-The focus was oddly split between the Sonoi-Tarou connection and Natsumi and Miho possible being the same person, somehow
-The Natsumi-Miho connection was unclear by the directing, but felt strong in the dialogue and writing
POSITIVE
-Seeing that Sonoi does save people was a good reminder of how he started off the series.
-The gag with the artist having no interest in Haruka was good
-Tsuyoshi and Inuzaki connecting was cool
DIRECTION
-Sonoi and Tarou vanishing behind the ambulance was cool
-Tarou and Sonoi being shown as equals or counterparts was really interesting. The visuals sold it perfectly
-I love the suit actor flopping down as Tarou goes into the Little Peach Robot. It’s hilarious
WRITING
-What are the Cerebrans after again? Does Sonoi want something different from the others? Is he trying to preserve humanity to secure his own world’s existence?
GENERAL NOTES
-Saru shows up for almost no reason. Is him using his powers for arbitrary reasons going to have a negative consequence?
-Is Saru saving the kid’s balloon somw sort of parallel for Tsuyoshi using his power however he wants to please himself?
-It is neat how spread out the cast is
-Is the cast teleport to and away from battles meaningful? Is it a writing convenience or does it have to dp with the World of Donbrothers?
REFLECTIONS
-How intentions matter? Did Tsuyoshi mean for the artist to die? Does it matter? Is the world really a better place without him?
NEXT EPISODE
– Don 09: Busted Tarou and Robotaro
SCORE
Episode 8: 7/10
The action and suspense were good, but something felt off about the stroy. On the other hand, I love how dark Tsuyoshi is getting and the questions raised about the similarities between Tarou and Sonoi are engaging.
