Ultraman Ultra Academy: Exciting New Book Series and Personal Reflections
Happy Ultraman Day, fellow fans! It’s July 10th, 2024, and I’ve just stumbled upon some exciting news that I can’t wait to share with you all. Tsuburaya Fields Media and Pictures Entertainment, along with Sky Turtle Nova, have announced a new book series called “Ultraman Ultra Academy.”
Set to hit shelves in spring 2025, this six-book middle-grade novel series will be the first American book series based on the Ultraman franchise. The story follows six young students as they study giant kaiju and assist the SSSP and Ultraman in finding weaknesses in these beasts. It’s a fresh take on the Ultraman universe, emphasizing themes of courage, hope, kindness, and creativity.
As an Ultraman enthusiast and author myself, this announcement has me thrilled. The middle-grade target audience is perfect for introducing a new generation to the wonders of Ultraman. It reminds me of my own aspirations to create tokusatsu-inspired book series.
This news has me reflecting on my own writing projects. I’ve just finished a book with tokusatsu-inspired elements, and I’m planning more in that vein. The announcement of the Ultraman Ultra Academy series makes me wonder if there’s a growing appetite for tokusatsu-inspired literature. It’s encouraging to see these ideas in the zeitgeist.
I’m particularly excited about the potential for this series to expand on the themes and style we saw in “Ultraman Rising,” which has become a fan favorite (myself included) since its Netflix debut in June. If the books can capture that same spirit of family, growth, and heroism, we’re in for a treat.
As both a fan and a writer, I’m looking forward to reading these books with my kids. It’s a fantastic opportunity to explore the Ultraman universe in a new medium and could pave the way for more tokusatsu-inspired literature in the future.
Who knows? Maybe this will inspire me to fast-track my own tokusatsu-inspired series. There’s clearly an audience hungry for these stories, and I’d love to contribute to this growing literary niche.
Are you as excited about the Ultraman Ultra Academy books as I am? What aspects of the Ultraman universe would you like to see explored in a book series? Let me know in the comments!
