Ultraman Arc Episode 4 – “On the Kaiju’s Tail”
Hey there, tokusatsu fans! MJ Muñoz here, ready to dive into Ultraman Arc episode 4, “On the Kaiju’s Tail.” First off, can we just appreciate that title? It’s probably the best one so far in the series.
SKIP’s Heroism and Rin’s Spotlight
Let’s kick things off by talking about our heroes. The entire SKIP team continues to impress me with their bravery. These folks are out there with no real weapons, just running towards danger to save people. But in this Rin-focused episode, she really shines.
Rin’s heroism is on full display here. From capturing the big rat to running into a building with an unstable electrical system that could explode at any moment, she’s putting her life on the line without hesitation. Remember, she’s just a regular person without special training. That’s some serious courage right there.
It was heartwarming to see the townspeople cheering Rin on at the end. Her focus on protecting people and reducing damage really paid off. Not only did she prevent the explosion, but she also indirectly helped weaken the kaiju. Go, Rin!
The Electric Rat Kaiju
Okay, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the Pikachu comparisons in the dub comments. I mean, it’s an electric rat kaiju named Nezutron – the Pokemon vibes are strong with this one!
But let’s get a bit nerdy for a second. The scientific name for this kaiju is “Electricanus nipponicus,” which roughly translates to “Japanese electric rat.” As a toku fan and a bit of a science geek, I love these little details.
Mr. Ishido and Some Red Flags
Did anyone else catch that comment from Mr. Ishido about the kaiju offering “valuable data”? As a Kamen Rider fan, that set off some villain red flags for me. I’m really curious to see where they’re going with his character. He’s likable, but there’s definitely something intriguing brewing there. Did you catch that coffee pun?
Arc’s Armor and Suit Acting
Let’s talk about Arc’s new armor. It’s pretty cool, right? But I noticed something interesting about the suit acting in this episode. In the first half of the fight, Arc’s movements seemed slower and jerkier. Then, when he powered up with the armor, everything got faster and smoother.
I wonder if this was intentional, to really sell how much the armor enhances Arc’s abilities. It’s an interesting choice, but I’ll admit it took me out of the moment a bit. Usually, Ultraman fights look consistently awesome to me, so this stood out.
That said, major props to Hidoyoshi Iwata, the suit actor for both Blazar and Arc. The range he shows between these two characters is seriously impressive. Blazar is wild and frenetic, while Arc is calm and precise. It’s a testament to Iwata’s skill.
Wrapping Up
Overall, I enjoyed this episode, despite a few minor issues. It showcased Rin’s heroism, introduced an interesting kaiju, and gave us some cool new abilities for Arc.
What did you think of the episode? Did you notice the suit acting difference? Are you suspicious of Mr. Ishido? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time, folks. Keep being Ultra!
