Ultraman Blazar Episode 14 – “Moonlit Memories”

Hey there, tokusatsu fans! MJ Muñoz here, ready to dive into Ultraman Blazar episode 14, “Moonlit Memories.” This episode left me with a lot of feelings, even if I don’t have a ton of notes. Let’s break it down!

Delta(ndel) Airlines?

First off, I’ve got to mention the kaiju of the week: Deltandel. The name got me thinking about Delta Airlines, especially with all the recent news about airline computer systems. It’s a bit of a tangent, but hey, sometimes these connections just pop into your head, right?

Haruno’s Fury

Captain Haruno really brought the intensity this episode. Keith Silverstein’s vocal performance and Masanari Kato’s physical acting were top-notch. You could really feel Haruno’s anger as he yelled at SKARD. It was almost uncomfortable to watch, which is a testament to how well it was performed.

Connecting the Dots

This episode started weaving together some interesting plot threads. The connection between Emi and Haruno, involving Emi’s dad and the mysterious Lab 66, is intriguing. Add in the mention of V99, and it feels like we’re building towards something big.

I love how SKARD is turning out to be a team of people with interconnected pasts. It adds depth to the storytelling and makes me eager to see how it all plays out.

Mysterious Atmosphere

While the kaiju fight wasn’t the highlight for me this time, I appreciated the overall mystique of the episode. Blazar using his sword in the clouds was visually cool, even if I thought he could have been more tactical with it.

It was also interesting to see Yasunobu take a backseat in the aerial combat, putting Anri in the spotlight. It showed a different side of both characters and set up potential growth opportunities.

Theories and Connections

Here’s where it gets really interesting: Are they implying that Research Facility 66 summoned Blazar three years ago? If that turns out to be true, it could be a game-changer for the series.

Also, did anyone else notice that 66 and 99 (from V99) are inversions of each other? It might be nothing, but in a show like this, these little details can mean a lot.

Looking Ahead

It feels like the season so far has been setting up all these pieces, and now we’re seeing them come together. I’m really excited to see where the story goes from here. Will they stick the landing, or will it be “Blaz-eh” (sorry, couldn’t resist the pun)?

That’s all for now, folks. Until next time, keep being Ultra!
