Ultraman Blazar Episode 21: “Battle in the Sky” – A Mixed Bag of Action and Character Development
Hey there, Ultra fans! MJ here, diving into Ultraman Blazar Episode 21, “Battle in the Sky.” This episode brings us a new challenge with the supersized Deltandl B, but does it soar or stumble? Let’s break it down!
The Return of Deltandl B
Our main threat this time is a giant version of Deltandl B, about six times larger than previous incarnations. This kaiju emerges after GGF tests a new weapon based on the EMP abilities of a previous space kaiju, Gebalga. It’s an interesting setup that ties into previous episodes.
Earth Garon’s New Challenge
The episode focuses on Earth Garon’s attempts to combat the new threat, introducing the C-MOD 3 with its Uranus flight module. This leads to some interesting dynamics:
- Yasanobu struggles with the G-forces during high-speed flight.
- Anri has difficulty with marksmanship.
- They eventually team up, with Anri piloting and Yasanobu commanding.
This teamwork solution showcases character growth and highlights their individual strengths and weaknesses.
Character Moments
While the action was somewhat subdued, we got some nice character interactions:
- Yasanobu and Anri bonding over their different piloting strengths
- The team’s shared frustration with having to perform the “What to do when you spot a kaiju” show
Hints at Future Developments
There are some intriguing seeds planted for future episodes:
- Emi’s irritation with the command staff, especially a mysterious lady in white
- Questions about the origin of this new Deltandl variant
Final Thoughts
While “Battle in the Sky” wasn’t a standout episode, it had its moments. The continuation of the “kaiju show” subplot and the character development between Yasanobu and Anri were highlights. However, the overall plot and action sequences felt a bit lackluster compared to previous episodes.
