Ultraman Blazar Episode 24: “The Approaching Third Wave” – A Bittersweet Finale?
Hey there, Ultra fans! MJ here, diving into the finale of Ultraman Blazar, “The Approaching Third Wave.” This episode packed a punch, but was it the knockout we were hoping for? Let’s break it down!
Emotional Highs and Narrative Confusion
While the episode hit some powerful emotional beats, it also left me scratching my head at times. Here are the key points:
- Character Dynamics: There’s a strange emphasis on Gento and EmI’s relationship that feels unresolved. Is she a little sister figure, or is there more to her identity?
- Varallon’s Destructive Travel: The kaiju’s planet-destroying method of space travel is both terrifying and scientifically intriguing.
- Ethical Dilemmas: Emi’s social engineering of Earthy raises questions about the ends justifying the means.
- Family Ties: Gento’s moments with his wife and son’s bracelet were touching, though I wished for more closure with his family.
- Dobashi’s Mysterious Role: This character’s place in the story remains frustratingly vague.
- Unexplained Powers: Blazar’s black hole ability looks cool but leaves us guessing about its actual effects.
Final Thoughts
Despite some confusion, the episode’s emotional resonance and the satisfaction of seeing the SKaRD team in action made for an engaging build up to the finale. However, I can’t help but feel some key explanations were missing.
