SSSS.Dynazenon 03 What is a Traitor? April 16, 2021

Writer: Keiichi Hasegawa

Director: ?

One of the Kaiju Eugenicists, Juuga, tells Yomogi that they were betrayed by Gauma. Yomogi and the others become distrustful of Gauma but they end up having to fight a Kaiju with their hearts in disarray. With their hearts separated, Dynazenon is unable to unleash its full power.

Gauma’s confession wasn’t strong enough to solve the trust issue. He is hoping to meet someone is not enough to sell them on trusting him. I would have thought it was enough that he was trying to stop kaiju from rampaging.

That Dyna Racer car sure looks cool.

The mecha racing to Chiba to confront the kaiju looked really slick.

Blasting the Kaiju up into space was such a great moment

The seeming hope that Minami has of seeing her sister again was stirring.

We know Gauma is hoping to meet someone. Minami lost her sister. I wonder if that means Chise, Koyomi and Yomogi are missing someone. Yomogi’s dad isn’t around. Did they mention why? Is there a shrine? Is he dead?

Does Dynazenon rely on broken people? People who are hurt and longing and know what it is to be a victim so that they have the instinct and heart to protect others? I would imagine the Kaiu Eugenicists don’t have that empathy. Maybe that is how their Instance Domination functions?

Do the Kaiju Eugenicists feels like alternate versions of the Dynazenon Four? Gauma’s analog is obvious. Juuga feels like an older version of Yomogi. The other two could be forced to match up with Koyomi and Minami if I really tried, but I need to see more. If they are, what does that mean?
