SYNOPSIS
Jiro Momotani has officially joined the team! He imitates and follows Taro, a man he respects in an attempt to learn from him, only for Taro to put him in his place and state he is just a companion! He also tries to be liked by everyone by drawing manga for Haruka Kito, and composing haiku for Shinichi Saruhara, but it seems that this only annoys them.
Jiro believes that he is the one who will “succeed Taro”, but when Taro denies it, he changes his mind. This cause an inner darkness to grow in Jiro as his dreams are shattered, causing him to attack the Donbrothers!
NEGATIVE
-Jirou is lying and the show is cheating us of resolving that to have an integrated 6th Donbrother right away.
POSITIVE
-Tsuyoshi getting to shine, in part because of Miho’s encouragement was great.
-I also love Haruka pressing the advantage to slap the sense into Jirou after Tsuyoshi provided an opening.
DIRECTION
-The performance from Raizou Ishikawa as evil Momotani is cool. He’s hammy and sinister and feels so different from before.
WRITING
-In the moment, I laughed at the idea of Momotani killing the Donbrothers and getting a new team, but here they call back to it as sinister and it really is. That’s either great writing or I am an easy mark. How does that same moment function so well in alternate contexts?
GENERAL NOTES
-It’s odd that Tarou would have a hard time thanking his companions and being humble in that respect. I would think the threshold would be high, but it would be totally natural for him to express gratitude to them.
-Momotani tone-deaf attempted to make himself vital to the team
-How can Jirou steal the Donbrothers’ glasses?
-Is there more going on with Jirou? He was stopped so easily, then blamed it on the MOTW, but that doesn’t seem accurate.

Episode 16: 6/10This was solid. The action was great. Evil Jirou was cool, but ultimately I feel like there is some deception going on that doesn’t make sense. I think Jirou lied and the show is hiding that right out in the open and that feels dumb and wrong to me. It takes away something, but I’m not sure what.

Avataro Sentai Donbrothers is a Japanese television series. It is the 46th in Toei’s Super Sentai series. Its Momotarō-themed Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger The show succeeded Kamen Rider Revice line-up Super Hero Time to Avataro Sentai Donbrothers in premiered March 6, 2022, on TV Asahi.

The series theme is based on the legend of Momotarō and Virtual Reality. Because of this, many of the show’s graphics are styled to resemble traditional Japanese watercolor brush paintings, and the series makes more extensive uses of CGI than past productions.
