SYNOPSIS
Shinichi is attacked by thugs who witness him transform into Saru Brother. They mistake him for a man named “Shirai”. Shinichi gets captured and is rescued by Shirai, who is said to be the previous Saru Brother. Shirai will confront the “Matsui-gumi”, the gang that captured Shinichi, with him serving as a witness. While this is all happening, Haruka is kidnapped by Sonoza.
NEGATIVE
-I don’t think the theme of the episode really landed well.
POSITIVE
-Saruhra got some cool action. We don’t get to see that monkey shine enough, so this was a cool turn.
DIRECTION
-Saruhara came across like a lead this episode. He has always been more comedic, but the framing of certain shots and staging of his scenes made him feels more serious and cool. He had gravitas.
WRITING
-The parallel between Saruhara and the old Saru Brother and Haruka and Sonoza was cool. It felt like it was really building to something and then it just kind of didn’t.

-Was Tsubasa even in this episode?

-What is the power of imagination?

Episode 21: 7/10
The writing was a little weak, but the performance and action make up for it. This was a lot of fun and I enjoyed what we learned about Saruhara.

Avataro Sentai Donbrothers is a Japanese television series. It is the 46th in Toei’s Super Sentai series. Its Momotarō-themed Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger The show succeeded Kamen Rider Revice line-up Super Hero Time to Avataro Sentai Donbrothers in premiered March 6, 2022, on TV Asahi.

The series theme is based on the legend of Momotarō and Virtual Reality. Because of this, many of the show’s graphics are styled to resemble traditional Japanese watercolor brush paintings, and the series makes more extensive uses of CGI than past productions.
