SYNOPSIS
Jiro’s childhood friend, Rumi decides to pay him a visit. Jiro says that he wants to be the leader of the Donbrothers before he comes out of the countryside saying that he will be a hero. Taro agrees, and since he cannot tell lies, he decides to leave the Donbrothers and make Jiro their leader. Jiro, now the leader of the “Dragon Fighters” instead of the Donbrothers starts training Haruka and the rest of the team. However, he gradually gets carried away…
NEGATIVE
-I need an explanation for Jirou flipping to evil. Does he have a Beastial inside him? I dislike not knowing.
POSITIVE
-Tarou receding into the background to let his team find their way and stepping in to save them when needed is a wonderful, refreshing sight.
-That scene with Tsubasa and Natsumi was cool
DIRECTION
-I was delighted by the puppeteering of the Mini Robotaro toy. I’m confident that is an actual toy, not a prop. Irregardless, it just worked for me.
WRITING
-Inoue keeps sneaking in ways to play off different dynamics by forcing the team into these different configurations. That’s a neat trick.
-Note to Author-Self: use this technique.
GENERAL NOTES
-Tsubasa is still not part of the team
-Might Tsubasa figure out the others are a team? Working out in polychrome like that is pretty odd…
-What’s up with Rumi?
-Tarou using Rumi’s line “that sounds hard,” on Kaito was funny
REFLECTIONS
-What is the path to growth and maturity?

Episode 20: 8/10This is the second time we have seen an alternate form of the Donbrothers team. It was a blast seeing the Dragonfires slide into narcissism and then get smacked out of it was cool. I like the semi-evil Don Dragoku, even if I don’t get it. His action as Torabolt was so brutish and fun to watch. Learning what Tarou was up to in the background was such a lovely twist to tie it all together. Momoi Tarou for best Red? He might get my vote. I don’t know if everyone actually progressed as characters, but it felt like it. This was definitely not filler.

Avataro Sentai Donbrothers is a Japanese television series. It is the 46th in Toei’s Super Sentai series. Its Momotarō-themed Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger The show succeeded Kamen Rider Revice line-up Super Hero Time to Avataro Sentai Donbrothers in premiered March 6, 2022, on TV Asahi.

The series theme is based on the legend of Momotarō and Virtual Reality. Because of this, many of the show’s graphics are styled to resemble traditional Japanese watercolor brush paintings, and the series makes more extensive uses of CGI than past productions.
