SYNOPSIS
Tsuyoshi learns that Tsubasa has been released and decides to follow him. Sononi, who notices Tsubasa acting strange, realizes that he has been copied by the Juto. Haruka becomes acquainted with Natsumi, who is rehearsing a play in a park. Later, Taro fights Natsumi and Tsubasa, the two Juto, but then, Sonoza appears…

-How does the Don Blaster not know that Beastial Tsubasa is fake?
-What is Jirou even doing in this show anymore? Does he matter?
-Telling us that Beastials can die, when we could have had it shown to us in a shocking reveal

-The subtle kitbash distinctions between the 2 Beastials, Crane and Cat I think, was cool.
-Tsubasa’s come back was cool. The classic “Samurai clash” depiction of the end of their fight is a favorite of mine. I did not expect to see the star stuck in the Beastial when he turned around!
-The camera work on direction when Tsubasa walked-off stepping over the camera was really neat.
-In the mecha fight, that train turning into a spider or beast-thing was freaky!
WHATS
-Where is Murase, anyway?
-Why does this show have to be so convoluted?
-What is at stake in this show? The Donbrothers themselves seem to be in danger or in trouble from time to time and they definitely save themselves. Is there actually some larger threat they are saving people from? I guess it is the diffuse threat of the Hitsosuki, and the Beastials, but what else is there? Shouldn’t there be one big, thematic thing for them to tackle? Does the lack of that detract from this show?

I’m not really sure what happened other than Tsubasa getting out of the Forest of Cats and leaving Natsumi behind there. It’s cool that Beastials can be killed now, but it looks like the show will ignore that by focusing on the 4th Cerebran Knight starting next episode. I want more story, this feels like a lot of fluff and that isn’t enough for me.
LESSONS LEARNED
LL000: Style is no substitute for substance. You have to give the audience something real at least every chapter if you want them to stay engaged with the story or characters.

Avataro Sentai Donbrothers is a Japanese television series. It is the 46th in Toei’s Super Sentai series. Its Momotarō-themed Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger The show succeeded Kamen Rider Revice line-up Super Hero Time to Avataro Sentai Donbrothers in premiered March 6, 2022, on TV Asahi.
The series theme is based on the legend of Momotarō and Virtual Reality. Because of this, many of the show’s graphics are styled to resemble traditional Japanese watercolor brush paintings, and the series makes more extensive uses of CGI than past productions.
