Competing Against Myself – Day 5

Today

Slept: 7 hours

Yesterday my throat started hurting. It got worse and worse until by around 8:00 I didn’t want to speak more loudly than I whisper. I can’t afford to fully get sick and miss out on work, so I decided to sleep more and not out additional strain on my body from working out.

In addition to not working out, I took some supplements to hopefully boost my immunity and prevent the hammer form coming down on me.

  • I took oregano oil
  • Elderberry syrup
  • Boiron Oscillococcinum
  • I gargled with hydrogen peroxide both last night and today.
  • I forgot about gargling with salt. Darn.

Today’s workout

Didn’t happen!

Food Log

I don’t think I will be as hungry today, but I also want to make sure I have enough energy to fight this off. I will definitely be napping today during my breaks, but I am not sure what to do about food. I should probably just be safe and eat when I am hungry, eat a small portion and space out my eating. I don’t know if it is true that it takes 20 minutes after you are full for your brain to get the signal, but I know I eat too much at one sitting and that is something I would like to change.

The oregano oil wrecked my mouth! I can barely taste anything. ¡Qué triste!

Breakfast Bake

Red Cabbage Salad with Kielbasa.

Had coffee in the morning to soothe my throat and because I was so tired.

A spoonful of almond butter

I forgot to snap a picture of dinner.

I had 2 drumsticks, a bowl of cauliflower “rice” and some yellow squash. The faux rice is a pass for me personally, I’d rather just have cauliflower. I actually love most if not all of the brassicas I’ve had.

I also had an apple with peanut butter and two little squares of chocolate. I know, not paleo; I am a flawed man.
